A Reuters investigation uncovered who is bankrolling far-right network, One America News. The world’s largest communications company, AT&T.

The report reveals OAN founder and chief executive Robert Herring, Sr., claimed the inspiration to launch the network was the brainchild of some AT&T executives back in 2013.

Court records obtained by Reuters show AT&T was a crucial source of funds flowing into OAN. Ninety percent of OAN’s revenue came from a contract with AT&T-owned television platforms, including satellite broadcaster DirecTV.

The network played a significant role in spreading false information during Trump’s term in office.

Chairwoman, Congressional Black Caucus, Joyce Beatty released the following statement:
“It has been brought to our attention AT&T, a long-time supporter of CBC-affiliated initiatives, has been identified as a primary sponsor of the far-right, anti-democratic, hatred-peddling organization One America News Network (OAN). AT&T’s support of OAN is in direct opposition to its claims of embracing and valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion. As members of the Congressional Black Caucus, we find these allegations appalling and call on AT&T to respond immediately. We will not yield in our dedication to combating any attempt to circumvent democratic principles, disenfranchise American voters, and marginalize Black communities. We will continue to demand accountability and transparency in our efforts to uplift and preserve diversity, equity, and inclusion at levels and across all industries. This is Our Power and Our Message!”
