Despite this assault, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine maintains that Ukrainian air defenses effectively intercepted and neutralized all enemy airborne threats. Meanwhile, in Belgorod Shebekino, intense clashes are unfolding, leading to a dire situation that necessitates the evacuation of residents. Despite authorities’ denial of infiltrating saboteurs, the gravity of the circumstances cannot be overlooked. Since May 31, Shebekino, a city in the Belgorod Region, has been heavily bombarded. Social media platforms have been flooded with accounts of these incidents, including reports of a burning police station in Shebekino and successful defense by the Russian Armed Forces against enemy tank breakthroughs. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have deployed anti-personnel mines codenamed “Petal.” According to a local resident, Russian military equipment entered Shebekino on Thursday morning. She stated, “From the Ukrainian side, there is continuous firing of ‘grads’ around the city. We don’t have any military bases here, only residential buildings. There were attacks during the night, waking us up at 3:00 AM. The intensity of the rumbling made us feel the need to seek shelter in the basement.”

Another resident of Shebekino reported that nothing is functioning in the city, including shops, enterprises, and public transport. She described the city as empty, with no electricity. However, firing had ceased for the past 40 minutes, and she confirmed that Ukrainian tanks had not breached the city. It was discovered that Russian propaganda outlets have provided minimal coverage of the events in Shebekino. Channel One’s morning news segment dedicated a mere 56 seconds to the situation. On “Rossiya-1,” “Vesti” referred to the attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Shebekino as “terrorist” but allocated only about a minute to the incident. NTV’s 8-hour program “Today” made no mention of Shebekino.
